Rights Respecting Award

The school is working towards the Unicef Rights and Respecting Award (RRSA). In addition, to our ethos of Respect and the Respect Charter, we are working on understanding our rights and responsibilities within a local and global context.

The children have read and are familiar with the book For Every Child, which outlines children's rights. We learn more in depth the different articles during school assemblies and PSHE lessons allowing the children to discuss their understanding. We ensure the rights of every child are a focus within our school day, through learning and the language of respect which is spoken by all of our Alt community.

We have a steering group in school, who meet regularly and discuss how to bring more awareness to the different rights as well as ideas for displays, lessons and events or fundraisers linked to the articles. The steering group are also working on holding their first whole school assembly to share their ideas and thoughts.

We have submitted our application to achieve the Bronze Rights and Respecting Award and are now working towards Silver.
