Y4 Emerald 2026 - 2027

Our Staff

Our unit leader is Mrs Branwood.

Our class teacher is Miss Morgan.

Our teacher is supported in class by Mrs Begum and Mrs Chadwick.

iPads and Online Learning

All children should bring their iPad to school with them everyday, charged and ready to use. Please note that chargers should not be brought into school. This is to help prevent them from becoming lost in school.

To remain safe online, all children have been taught to keep their usernames and passwords safe from others. This means that they are not written down anywhere, especially in reading records!

The online platforms used are below and can be accessed by clicking or tapping on the logos.

Home Learning

All children in Y4 Emerald are expected to complete the following tasks as a minimum at home:

  • Read three times a week (recorded in their reading record and checked on Mondays)
  • Complete their spellings practice sheet (issued and due on Mondays)

Additional home learning

At the start of each half term, your child will receive a Curriculum Newsletter, containing ideas for extra tasks at home which can support learning around the children's current topic drivers. You'll find these listed further down this page.

Some of the most important things parents and family members can do to support their children, is to talk to them about what they have been learning about in school, and listen to them reading their individual reading book. We really value your support in doing these things to help us foster a love of learning.

Reading Champions

Each term, we monitor if children have been reading consistently three times a week at home. We look in the children's reading records to check this - so it's important that any reading is recorded in here! There are special rewards at the end of each term planned for all children who have risen to the challenge and become a Reading Champion!

PE and Games

PE lessons take place each week on Thursdays and Fridays. Children should come to school in their PE kits on these days.

Year 4 children will go swimming every Thursday and will need to bring their swimming kit to school in a bag - a towel, costume and a swimming hat for anybody with long hair.

For more information on our PE kits, please see our School Uniform page.

Our Learning

A key part of our INSPIRE Curriculum, is our topic drivers. These topics inspire learning across the curriculum:

  • Spring 1 - Violent Earth
  • Spring 2 - A Taste of the Maya
  • Summer 1 - Beneath the Canopy

Please keep checking our page for further updates about our learning!

We welcome and value your views and opinions. Please feel free to pop in to speak to a member of the team at any time.
